Legacy Ag Credit Awards $20,000 in Scholarships to Local Students

SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas - Legacy Ag Credit awarded college scholarships to seven Northeast Texas high school seniors who excelled in academics and agriculture. The rural financing cooperative awarded seven scholarships totaling $20,000 to High School Seniors who live in Legacy’s 10-county territory.

“These students represent the future of the agriculture industry. We’re proud to do our part to help them achieve their goals,” said Legacy Ag Credit CEO Derrell Chapman.

Congratulations to these students:

  • Rylee Carroll from Sulphur Springs High School plans to attend Texas A&M University
  • Maggie Mayes from Longview High School plans to attend Texas A&M University
  • Olivia York from Van High School plans to attend Texas Tech University
  • Karen Castillo from Mt. Vernon High School plans to attend Texas A&M University-Commerce
  • Mattison Smith from Quitman High School plans to attend Texas Tech University
  • Luke Ratcliff from Harleton High School plans to attend Texas A&M University
  • Lila Park from Quitman High School plans to attend Texas Tech University

Legacy Ag Credit is a borrower-owned lending co-op that finances agriculture, rural real estate, country homes, poultry farms, timber operations, ranches, young, beginning, small farms, and agribusiness. It is headquartered in Sulphur Springs and has branch offices in Canton, Gilmer, Longview, Terrell, Marshall, and Sulphur Springs. Legacy is a part of the nationwide Farm Credit System.
