SULPHUR SPRINGS - Legacy Ag Credit is proud to announce that it has awarded $20,000 in scholarships to support the next generation of agricultural leaders across its 10-county territory. With over 60 applications submitted, seven outstanding students were selected based on their academic achievements, leadership, and commitment to the agricultural community.

Scholarship recipients include:

  • Kaylie Watkins from Kilgore received $5,000 and plans to attend Texas A&M University.
  • Katie Jouett from Terrell received $2,500 and plans to attend Texas Tech.
  • Quinn Hartley from Crandall received $2,500 and plans to attend Butler Community College.
  • Cortlynn Hendrix from Hallsville received $2,500 and plans to attend Sam Houston State University.
  • Avery Turner from Gilmer ISD received $2,500 and plans to attend West Texas A&M University.
  • Sydni Schley from Edgewood received $2,500 and plans to attend East Texas A&M University.
  • Joe Ray from Gladewater received $2,500 and plans to attend Louisiana Tech University.

"At Legacy Ag Credit, we are committed to investing in young people who will carry on the legacy of agriculture in our communities,” said Legacy Ag Credit CEO Derrell Chapman. “By supporting these students, we are not only helping them achieve their educational goals, we are also ensuring the continued strength and vitality of the agricultural industry for generations to come.”

Scholarships were awarded based on a combination of academic merit, community involvement, leadership, and a demonstrated interest in agriculture. Recipients were selected through a blind review process conducted by a scholarship committee made up of three Legacy Ag Credit employees and two local borrowers. Applications were evaluated anonymously, without consideration of names, schools, or personal details, ensuring a fair and impartial selection process.
