Legacy Ag Credit Awards $20,000 in Scholarships

Legacy Ag Credit, a rural lending cooperative, recently awarded $20,000 in scholarships to seven students in Northeast Texas.

The scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors that have exhibited excellence in academics and agriculture.

“Our scholarship program gives us a great opportunity to support and promote the future leaders in agriculture,” said Derrell Chapman, Legacy Ag Credit chief executive officer.

Congratulations to these students:

  • Betsy Tovar from Mount Vernon High School plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in Agribusiness.
  • Liberty Weathered from North Hopkins ISD plans to attend Texas A&M- Commerce and major in Agribusiness.
  • Madison Driver from Winnsboro High School plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in Poultry Science.
  • Katie Cooley from Union Hill High School plans to attend Texas Tech University and major in Agricultural Education.
  • Kenley Carr from Quitman High School plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in Agribusiness.
  • Madison Perkins from Gamer High School plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in Poultry Science.
  • Maci Schley from Edgewood ISD plans to attend Tarleton State University and major in Agricultural Communications.

Legacy Ag Credit is a borrower-owned lending co-op that finances agriculture, rural real estate, country homes and agribusiness. It is headquartered in Sulphur Springs and has branch offices in Canton, Gilmer, Longview, Sulphur Springs and Terrell. Legacy is a part of the nationwide Farm Credit System.
